This is a true "hands-on" experience where a student can learn everything from fixing that faucet on the sink,
to building that guest house out in the back yard
Class Information
There are several aspects of Construction Technology. Students begin by learning the basics of proper and safe tool use and then move on to building and construction. They can progress to the level where they are actually building houses with the Habitat for Humanity program.
All students will be exploring the following areas in their Construction Technology class:

Safe Working Procedures and Safe Working Environments

Use of Tools and Equipment

Measurement and Math related to Construction

Interpret Schematics, Blueprints & Technical Drawings
Depending on their skill level and initiative students will also explore:

Residential Plumbing and Electrical

Concrete and Masonry Work

Residential Floor, Wall and Roof Layout and Framing

Thermal Moisture Protection

Window and Door Installation

Exterior and Interior Finishes
* Please note that many concepts are ongoing throughout the whole year. They will occur at different times throughout the school year depending on material availability, shop and school needs and student progress. Most of the learning/teaching occurs while doing various projects. I try to give out as much information as I can around the actual work process. Mr. Sillence, Instructor
