Activities

Every webpage is written in code to define structure and appearance. Elements such as text, graphics and pictures are inserted into a coding structure to create a page. If you want to see what coding looks like and try it out for yourself, go to the following link: http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_intro

  1. Look over the Common Tags sheet ( you should have a print copy from your teacher) and carefully examine the common elements.
  2. Referring to the Common Tags sheet, record your responses on paper to the following questions:
    • Which tags do not need a separate tag for closing?

    • Which tag pair serves as a container for all the visible content of a web page?

    • Which tag is used to identify the main heading on a page?

    • Which tag can be either a container or non-container tag?
Closure activity: List three important facts you learned about coding and tags:1) 2) 3)

Students should have completed all modules 1 and 2 and lessons in this unit by 12.09.2011. I have additional handouts for each lesson in class, and a quiz to complete at the end of each module. Submit your completed work to my folder for the class, I will score it and return it to you. You should keep all work in your classroom portfolio until at least the end of the unit.
