GRADING POLICY
It is important that students understand what assignments are due, how much they are worth, and when they must be turned in.
Students earn grades according to the number of points earned. An “A” means your child earned 90-100% of the points possible. 80 -89% earns a “B”. 70-79% earns a “C” and 60 -69% earns a “D”. Below 60% earns an “F”. It is HHMS policy that progress reports be sent home every 2 weeks. You can expect progress reports on this schedule.
HOMEWORK
is assigned everyday except Friday. When a homework assignment is given, it is to be turned in at the beginning of the next class period unless otherwise indicated. Students who turn in assignments 1 day late will be given half credit (more than 1 day late drops value 10% daily).
RESEARCH and BOOK PROJECTS
are due on due date for full possible credit, students turning in project the day after deadline will have the opportunity to get half credit; any project turned in later will not be accepted.
ATTENDANCE
Students who are absent will be allowed to make up missed work. If you are absent an extended amount of time (three or more days), please see your teacher to discuss make-up work or call the office and I will prepare work to be picked up at the front office. The progress report is to be signed by you and returned to me. Students will receive credit for returning the signed report. These progress reports are in addition to the mid-Quarter TUSD progress report & 9 week report card.
All students will be using a vocabulary development program. This program is carefully organized to ensure the comprehension and retention of valuable core words. Please take a few moments to review the worksheets & homework with your student. Students have daily homework assignments and will be tested on their new vocabulary at the end of each unit: unit test every two weeks.
